Reflection of my time in the UK

As my time in London is coming to an end all I can think about is how I want to see family and friends, but also how much I don’t want to leave London. Preparing to go home is becoming a bittersweet process. Being over here I definitely think I have become a lot more dependent. I always thought I was pretty dependent anyway but since being over here I realized I really wasn’t. Since being here I have really learned to keep an open mind about everything and to make the best of it. Things aren’t always going to go the way we want it but if we make the best of it, it has the potential to turn out in our favor. One of the most important things I have learned that I will definitely take back with me is to not take anything for granted. Time went by so fast while I was here and I’m not ready for it to end yet. It seems like it was just a few weeks ago that I was getting on a plane in Chicago to come to London. The past 3 and half months have flown by. And I know when I get back to Ambrose by last year of college is going to go be extremely fast as well. I don’t want to take for granted the time I have with my friends while in college. Studying abroad as been one of the best experiences I have had. It is definitely something that everyone should do. It’s an amazing college experience and I have really learned a lot about myself and what I want to do. I have also learned a lot about the people around me, include the people I have been in London with as well as people back home. I think the most surprising part of being here was how well I have adapted to being a Londoner. Whenever I leave for a weekend I miss London more than I do my actual home. I consider London my home and I don’t want to be away from it for too long. I knew I was going to love London, I always have, but I didn’t think it would be to this extent. I also found it surprising how easy it is to adapt to other countries when I am travelling. I find it a lot easier to figure out things such as transportation and getting around more than I did before I came to London. Going home will definitely be an interesting task. The main advice I would have to future London students is be willing to try new things. Get out of your comfort zone, talk to people you normally wouldn’t. Don’t be afraid to wonder around London by yourself and “get lost.” Although it is pretty difficult really getting lost, when all you have to do is find an underground sign or a bus stop! Also find out who you are as a person, and don’t be afraid of change. And for the final few things, it is expensive! And have fun!
